Chip Chantry is a Philadelphia-based comedian and writer whose comedy is not unlike that of a puppy dog giving a eulogy. It can be absurd and dark, but in the silliest, most playful way possible. Originally a fourth-grade teacher, Chip has taken the experience of lying to children and now travels the country to exaggerate for adults.
Chip's ability to summon laughter earned him 1st place in 2013's Philly's Phunniest Contest at Helium Comedy Club, where he is a regular performer. This follows Chip's 2012 win as "Funniest Comedian" in Philadelphia's annual Comedy Awards.
Besides performing in clubs and theaters across the country, Chip had the opportunity to perform on the side stage at Oddball Comedy Festival in 2013. He has opened for national headliners such as Dave Chappelle, Bob Saget, Todd Glass, and Dom Irrera. in 2012, he released his first live comedy album, ACROSS FROM THE ADONIS.
Besides standup, Chip has written and performed in a number of live and video sketches, including "Deck the Hall and Oates" which VH1.com called "one of the best parodies of the year" in 2011. He also wrote and produced the monthly late night-style talk show, FACETIME w/ CHIP CHANTRY at Helium Comedy Club, and the monthly comedy variety program, CHIP CHANTRY'S ONE-MAN SHOW (w/ special guests!), at the Philly Improv Theater.
Wasting time on the Internet led to Chip becoming a national finalist for Twitter's annual Shorty Awards in the "Best Emerging Comic" category in 2012. His twitter account was also named "funniest in Philadelphia" by the Philadelphia Inquirer in 2013.
